Cedric is wearing a signet ring bearing his family crest, and wears a wooden holy symbol of Dol Arrah as a necklace at all times. He also wears a bracelet on the base of his right horn as a means of decoration.


The eldest child of a noble family, Cederic comes from a relatively long line of tiefling paladins. Five generations ago the founder of his family, a half-demon of Baalor stock, turned from her evil ways after experiencing a profound religious experience during the beginning of the Last War: a vision of the goddess Dol Arrah herself called her to turn from her evil ways and take up the banner of good. She went on to become a paladin and carve out a minor noble ranking for herself, her husband and their children in the nation of Aundair. Since then the eldest child of each generation has become a paladin, fighting in Aundair’s military during the Last War or, in Cedric’s case, venturing into the wider world to right wrongs and turn evildoers towards the light.

Due to his upbringing in high society, Cederic is well-mannered, friendly, chivalrous, and naive. Growing up in Aundair, he is familiar with animals (particularly horses) and enjoys long journeys simply for the sake of traveling. He is used to being listened to and naturally tends towards the role of leader in a group of people when there is a task at hand, while still valuing others’ input. This is in part due to his place as the eldest child in a family of nine. As a worshiper of Dol Arrah, he values strategy highly.

Although he is far from ignorant of many of the ways of the world, he often takes people at face value and will assume the best of them until experience teaches him otherwise. The exception to this is when acting as a diplomat; once he knows his “enemy” so to speak, and has a purpose in mind, his tongue can be as sharp as a blade. He is rigidly honest, and will not raise his sword without due cause. Once he has entered combat, however, it’s clear his family’s demonic blood is far from dilute. He is bloodthirsty and vicious, although he will (with some private reluctance) spare a foe that begs for mercy. He is also quick to defend the weak, seeking to protect them first and foremost.

While he holds himself to a strong code of ethical behavior, Cedric does not necessarily expect the same of others. It is easy to be led astray in this world, after all, and it is simply his duty as a paladin to guide people back to the path of good. He earnestly believes that with enough effort anyone can be made to change, and that all people are good at heart: just easily confused at times. This ties into his faith, as Dol Arrah represents not only the light of the sun but the light of goodness present in all mortal souls. Of course, like all mortals he does not live up to his values one hundred percent of the time. In many ways, he is like untempered steel.

Cedric does very little to hide his demonic ancestry. At one point he filed down the horns on the sides of his head in order to keep them from getting in the way of his helmet, but the life of an adventurer has made this difficult and he no longer bothers. He’s stopped wearing a helmet instead, while his ram-like horns slowly grow back. He did keep his long, scaled tail tucked away inside his armor to protect it but no longer does so. He does not blunt his sharp nails or bother attempting to disguise any of his inherent abilities. This is not so much because he is unused to prejudice (even nobles are not exempt from such things, after all, especially if their house is young and small) but that he refuses to allow himself to care. He was raised to be proud of his heritage and is so.
